Diffused Athens is a research initiative that investigates the evolution of Athens to a contemporary European metropolis during the first decade of the new Millenium. The new international airport, the development of transportation and infrastructure networks, a new shopping culture manifested by peripheral large scale centers, new forms of living and a historical center being in continuous devaluation and re-evaluation process have been the highlights of this research.

The city’s uniformity is lost, its features and parts are no longer of equal importance and hierarchies have been introduced. For the first time, a large-scale view of Athens provides us information about the way the city is constituted. Yannis Aesopos.
